Sidcup is a district in the London Borough of Bexley in postcode area DA14 & DA15; it has a population of around 11,000. The area developed in the late 18th Century from a small street of house and an inn and many of the manor houses dating from that period can still be seen, although they are now used for other than residential purposes. St Mary’s Hospital is in the area; there is a local high street, a large leisure centre and several local music venues, such as, The Charcoal Burner and Beaverwood Club. Sidcup is not on the London Underground but has a railway station with fast trains to Charing Cross taking 20 minutes.
